A big congratulations to every student who performed in this year's Summer Drum Show! Preparing a whole piece is an accomplishment in itself, but actually getting up on stage and performing in front of an audience is another big step. Being able to perform under a little more pressure often requires a little more preparation. As the performance date approaches, it's common to analyze your preparation and comfort with the song selection. The nerves might start kicking in at this point, closer to the performance date. Staying on track throughout the preparation prior to the performance is key to combating possible nerves before the show. For some, that means creating a clear outline of the grooves, fills, and transitions you need to perform at ease by a specific date. Having a clear outline of how you are going to tackle the song is key for success. For others, it might mean staying positive through the process and mentally staying in it each week. Don't let your mind disrupt your flow espically when performance date gets closer. I am very proud of all my students who put in the work, stayed consistent with their preparation, and took the stage. As always, it was so much fun watching each student get up there and win their performance. The hard work is paying off, and I can see so much progress with every recital!

Much love,
Eric Kummer
